Plus Movimiento (+M) is freaking hard! You have to engage, align, push, conduct, push again, realign, stretch, co-contract, and on top of all of that, you have to breathe! Sounds like a marriage, right?

Men need +M because it is designed to strengthen, restore, and improve every aspect of human motion! It’s one of the few exercise programs that offer a 360° functionality. +M will enhance the way you lift, run, bike, ski, pitch, throw, or golf by 10X.

Injury Rehab:

Many injuries occur due to muscular imbalances, meaning too much pressure on certain muscles weaken others. Imbalances are caused by our posture; the way we walk, stand, sit, lie down, or workout... basically, in how we move.

My classes promote even musculature throughout the body by strengthening deep, small muscles including those close to the spine. We also work on creating pelvic alignment and stability, generating full range of motion, and developing greater flexibility. All while incorporating the principles of breathing.

Improve mobility/flexibility:

Men usually have tighter muscles, which compromises flexibility and mobility around the joints. One of the tools I use, the Pilates reformer, allows consistent challenges to your muscles, enabling them to produce active and static flexibility in a controlled manner. This results in the joints gaining a greater range of motion. If you don’t believe me, stop by and I’ll show you how this miracle happens!

Supplement your training:

Ever heard of cross training? If not, then you are probably just doing one activity. +M will enhance ANY sport. Yes, any!! Name one activity that wouldn’t benefit from increasing spinal stability and establishing correct mechanics at the foot, ankle and hip. Not to mention gaining strength from the core to the shoulders, and learning proper rotational movements in a controlled and safe way. Plus Movimiento is all of this and much more!

Correct posture:

First and foremost, do you know why your posture is not what it could be? Can you pinpoint the reasons for poor posture beyond the countless hours spent on the computer or behind the wheel?

You develop a greater sense of awareness about your entire body when you take the time to understand it. This is an immense gift that +M will bring into your life.

Improve Mindfulness:

This is probably my favorite. Have you found yourself having a conversation, or staring at the TV or phone while your brain is somewhere else? Welcome to the club!

Fortunately, in class there are several things you need to be paying attention to simultaneously: the tension, the alignment, my cues in broken English (that’s probably the hardest), and a major one…the breathing! All of these elements encourage you to be “present” and “in the moment.” It’s so easy to get caught up in our own internal dialog. We forget about the tremendous impact of the ability to be whole, even for a moment, has on each of our lives.
