During this campaign we were moved in so many directions. Pushed to the right, pulled to the left, twisted and absorbed by a huge tornado of information. We were left with no room to ground us, to lower the center of mass that allows us to recap, reorient and continue with a clear mind. 

All of this in terms of movement was a super messy ordeal. We were left with no time for proper breathing, proper execution or movement analysis. It was a Roman Clash; the goal was to survive! not to be left on the battlefield.

On the bright side it has shown us our deficiencies as a society. It has shown us where strength and balance are required, when to push, what to pull, and at what point we need to turn around and walk away (that's what I want to believe).

After experiencing this clash how can we create Movimiento again? 

Let's take a few deep breaths, open our eyes and start gaining clarity. The reality now has sunk in, now slowly we can begin to orient a course of action. Together, we can find Movimiento once again. 

Think of it this way... Movimiento at its core, is the result of several elements falling into 4 categories. Some professionals say there are 5 - 7 categories, but I think we all can agree with at least the basic 4. These categories are Locomotion, Level Changes, Pushing/Pulling and Rotation. In order to be functioning properly we should be able to preform each of these movements properly.

LOCOMOTION

 Locomotion: moving your body from one place to another = walking, running, skiing

Locomotion means gait, yes walking or running. Simple, I know. So why is there such a lack of it? Have we got to the point that we are so disconnected from ourselves that we have impeded our ability to walk? Maybe that's one of the reasons the voting turnout was so low? Was the comfort of a couch more important than the right to chose a leader? If people don't feel an urge to move, why would they show an urge to vote? Think about it... while you walk.

LEVEL CHANGES

 Raising and lowering the center of mass: getting in and out of the car, or picking up from the ground = squats, lunges, deadlifts

Level changes refer to lowering one person's center of mass, like picking up an object, getting off the ground or simply sitting on the toilet. These movements are a combination of the trunk and lower extremities. The relation of gravity and the mechanisms of the ankle, knee, and hips play a role in functional level changes. If this holy trinity presents deficiencies and gravity pushes too hard, then we collapse!

Was the media in this past election the big force acting upon us like gravity? Probably, however there is a slight difference... gravity has a constant. Does the media? No, No No. This force chose the pitch and volume, it set the tone to fool with us, influencing what was for most part an autonomous decision. Media acted like a mediocre artist painting on canvas. Color after color was continuously applied as the media made an attempt to cover their own mistakes with inferior artistry. Media knows that "attention is the asset".  It doesn't care what information is out there, it only cares that our attention is on it.

So please... next time, lets do our homework, establish proper mechanics, increase our mobility and strengthen our base so it becomes unshakable and unmovable.

PUSH AND PULL

Pull and Push is defined as bringing an object closer to or away from your torso. 

Republicans and Democrats, the donkey and the elephant. A constant pushing and pulling. Very interesting animals with incredible attributes that share very little in common - except for their inability to move at some point.

The donkey can carry a heavy load, but in the presence of danger or when feeling head strong, the stubborn ass becomes almost impossible to move. An elephant on the other hand.. never forgets. Although he is physically strong, there are movements such as jumping that he is physically incapable of preforming.

Both are strong animals and parties, but together these two parties have forgotten the principle of functionality. You can't just push or pull, you have to apply both principles in order to function properly and stay out of injury. Parties couldn't resolve these constants even from within their own entities. As a result we have ended with a big tear, the type of injury that usually takes a long time to heal.

ROTATION

 Rotation: also know as twisting. Have you stopped to wonder why golfers, professional tennis players and soccer athletes make so much money? Because in order for you to hit that ball properly, you have to apply this principle to perfection = wood chops, medicine ball or tubing rotations

Rotation is involved in most of the ADL's (activities of daily living). Any time you reach to put on your seatbelt or comb your hair, rotation happens. So we can say rotation happens at the spine.

The spine is divided into 4 different segments from top to bottom; Cervical, Thoracic, Lumbar, and Sacral.

Each segment has different responsibilities, each segment has sensitive and intricate nerve roots, each one moves, protects and serves a number of purposes. It plays an essential role in protecting the central nervous system. Unfortunately, most people are unaware of the intricacies of this magnificent structure and how it works. If you don't believe me ask the half of all working Americans that admit to suffering from back pain symptoms each year.

As a structure, the spine is quite similar to the branches of the government. The legislative makes the laws, the judicial evaluates the laws, the executive carries out the laws. Once again, a very intricate system designed with the best interest of the citizens in mind. The citizens!

If the people are the end goal, why do some of these branches dispute like a bunch of pre-schoolers over the use of a sandbox? They refuse to see the collective, they refuse to see what makes sense for the majority. They are only focused on their individual agendas. All of this leads to improper Movimiento.

So remember these four categories, the four pillars of movement - LOCOMOTION, LEVEL CHANGES, PUSH/PULL, and ROTATION. These movements don't need to be perfect, they just need harmony.
